Adaptive Spirit is where the cable and telecommunications industry come together to forge meaningful business connections while making a lasting impact for the para athletes of the US Ski and Snowboard Team.
Over more than three decades, the Adaptive Spirit Organization has raised more than $25 million to date, providing critical funding for Team USA athletes, covering training, equipment, travel, and other needs not met through traditional channels. At the same time, their annual event, held on ski slopes in the Rocky Mountains, has become one of the industry’s most anticipated gatherings, offering executives, innovators, and partners across the telecom ecosystem the opportunity to strengthen relationships, exchange insights, and shape the future.
Founded in 1995 by CTAM of the Rocky Mountains, the organization held their first event in Vail, Colorado, the following year. Christened “SkiTAM,” the event attracted 100 attendees and raised $100,000 for the U.S. Paralympics Ski Team, which was then in danger of disbanding due to lack of funding. That initial donation secured the team’s standing and triggered a chain reaction of events that led to SkiTam emerging as the team’s financial lifeblood.
In 2010, the organization was renamed Adaptive Spirit to more accurately describe its expansion to include the broader adaptive community. The gathering of industry leaders continued to grow – and the vision of bringing professionals together while giving back was cemented as the core of the Adaptive Spirit organization and event.
The athletes supported by Adaptive Spirit embody resilience, focus, and the power of possibility… qualities that mirror the spirit of innovation driving the cable and telecommunications industry forward. Each year, their achievements on the slopes remind participants that with commitment and collaboration, no obstacle is insurmountable.
More than an event, Adaptive Spirit is a community. From the first gathering of 100 people to recent events that draw upwards of 2000, it is a celebration of industry leadership, human spirit, and the belief that when people come together, extraordinary things can be accomplished—on the mountain, in the marketplace, and beyond.
