Amy Maclean is Editorial Director of the esteemed Cablefax brand, where she oversees all editorial operations for Cablefax Daily and Cablefax: The Magazine. With more than 20 years of experience covering the cable, media and broadband industries, Amy is widely recognized for her authoritative reporting on the business of broadband, television and telecom, with a particular emphasis on regulatory and policy matters.
During her tenure at Cablefax, Amy has chronicled the industry’s most significant transformations and interviewed many of its most influential leaders, including Brian Roberts, Tom Rutledge, Julie Laulis, Rocco Commisso, and the late Jim Robbins. In a notable reversal of roles, she was invited to record her own oral history for The Syndeo Institute at The Cable Center, reflecting her impact and reputation within the field. She is also a frequent speaker and moderator at conferences and industry events, bringing her insight and perspective to audiences across the country.
Amy’s contributions to the industry extend beyond journalism. She is a member of the Cable TV Pioneers and serves on the board of The WICT Network’s DC/Baltimore chapter. In recognition of her advocacy and leadership, she was honored with the T. Howard Foundation’s Diversity Advocate Award in 2024. Her work has also been recognized by the Specialized Information Publishers Association.
Before joining Access Intelligence in 2000, Amy worked as a reporter for the Associated Press in the Atlanta and Montgomery, Alabama bureaus, where she covered politics, education, and a wide range of public affairs. Her reporting appeared in newspapers across the country and internationally. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Amy also wrote for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Macon Telegraph early in her career.
