Syndeo’s Next Chapter: Shaping Our Future

March 16, 2026

Nearly 30 years ago, the National Cable Television Center and Museum (NCTCM), Cable Pioneers, and Bill Bresnan broke ground on the Alan Gerry Cable Center building on the University of Denver campus. Since then, The Cable Center has stood as more than bricks and mortar. It has served as a powerful testament to one of the most influential industries in the world and the pioneers who built and sustained it. It has also been a place where leaders, emerging talent, and curious minds have come together to learn, connect, and celebrate the industry’s impact.

That pioneering spirit continues to inspire us as we take the next step forward by reimagining
Syndeo Institute beyond the walls of The Cable Center.

Why This Step Makes Sense Now

Much has changed since The Cable Center first opened its doors. Our team is smaller, and the costs associated with maintaining a large facility, including property taxes, utilities, and ongoing maintenance, have increased significantly. While the building has served us well for many years, the needs of a modern, digitally focused organization have evolved. This transition allows us to better align our resources with our mission and future priorities.

How the Proceeds Will Be Used

The decision to sell the building is a proactive and strategic one. It positions Syndeo Institute to focus more fully on advancing the industry through leadership programs, thought leadership, and the preservation and accessibility of its history.

Timeline and Transition

With the sale of the building finalized on March 6, 2026, Syndeo staff and the Barco Library will relocate to a nearby facility on the University of Denver campus by the end of April 2026. Our physical collection will be placed in a museum-grade storage facility during the transition.

Once this move is complete, we will thoughtfully determine the best long-term home for our staff and the collection. Throughout this process, Syndeo’s programs and day-to-day operations will continue without interruption.

Honoring Our Legacy

The many contributions and memories created at The Cable Center will always remain an important part of our story. To celebrate and preserve this legacy, Syndeo Institute will:

  • Create a digital archive of photos, stories, and memories
  • Highlight the building’s history through social media and the Syndeo Institute website
  • Continue expanding our physical collection and oral history project, which will ultimately include AI-enabled access to industry stories

Looking Ahead

By right sizing our footprint and reducing operational overhead, we can reinvest more directly in the work that matters most: strengthening the connectivity industry, supporting its leaders, and preserving its legacy for future generations.

This moment represents both a tribute to our past and a commitment to our future. Together, we are shaping what comes next.

Sincerely,
The Syndeo Institute Staff and Board of Directors
