Equally inspirational and aspirational, the annual Cablefax Most Powerful Women is a can’t miss event for me. It’s a unique opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of women in our industry while sharing quality time with leaders who have dedicated their careers to making an impact.
I’m deeply honored to be recognized once again as an honoree. To stand among such talented and deserving women, including our own Chief Program Officer Camilla Formica, esteemed committee and council members, and current and former members of our Board of Directors, is truly humbling. I encourage everyone to explore the full list of leaders featured in the Cablefax Most Powerful Women 2024, a remarkable showcase of individuals driving change and innovation in our industry.
Industry events that bring our industry together continually spark meaningful conversations about the role women have played—and continue to play—in shaping the cable industry. Over the past year, I’ve had countless discussions with fellow women leaders reflecting on how we began our careers, the challenges we faced, and, most notably, the unparalleled opportunities this industry has provided. Many of this year’s Cable Hall of Fame inductees expressed a similar sentiment: they felt they had access to and benefitted from more opportunities in the cable industry than they would have had in any other industry.
These reflections inspired an exciting new initiative at Syndeo Institute: a focused effort to curate, document, and share the stories of women in cable. These individual oral histories and panel discussions will be preserved in the Barco Library, ensuring these narratives become part of our industry’s enduring legacy.
This initiative embodies the heart of Syndeo Institute’s mission: to steward the stories of our industry for future generations. With the support of the Durtza Charitable Remainder Fund, we’re building a targeted collection of women’s stories that highlight the incredible contributions of entrepreneurs, technologists, content creators, and operational leaders.
We’re looking at every corner of the industry:
- Pioneers who helped lay the foundation.
- Multi-generational leaders who have passed their passion for cable down through families.
- Intrapreneurs of all ages, pushing boundaries within their organizations.
- Women who supported and partnered with their husbands during the industry’s early days.
While many of these stories have been captured over the years, this new initiative will be deliberate and comprehensive. It will extend into the present and future, celebrating the leaders making an impact today and those poised to shape tomorrow.
When we talk about mavericks, visionaries, and industry trailblazers, women have always been a vital part of that narrative. The cable industry has long been a place where women have found not only opportunities but the freedom to innovate, lead, and thrive.
As a woman leader, this effort is not just a responsibility for me—it’s a passion. Preserving and sharing these stories ensures that future generations understand the remarkable role women have played in shaping our industry and inspires them to continue breaking barriers.
